Amy Lennon, DC
Thirty-five years into this work, what still gets me out of bed isn’t a technique. It’s the decades-long relationships with both colleagues and patients. Over the years I’ve built up a pretty deep toolkit: Active Release Technique®, Graston Technique®, SFMA® Level 2, FAKTR®, Neurodynamic Solutions (Shacklock), MBSR for pain control, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, and more. I’ve also learned that helping someone heal doesn’t always come down to my hands or any one skill that I have. Sometimes the best thing I can offer a patient is knowing when to refer them to someone better suited to what they need.
On my days off, you’ll often find me shadowing other practitioners around town to understand how they work. That way, when one of my patients needs something I can’t provide, I’m connecting them with someone I trust, someone who fits where they are in their healing.
Over the years I’ve worked on professional athletes, Ironman competitors, world-class runners, dancers, and musicians. I am an adjunct faculty at UWS and have taught and supervised students since 1991. I started a national nonprofit called Sportsprodigy focused on preventing youth injuries, and I’m also a certified Vipassana (Insight) meditation instructor. My practice centers on family care, sports injuries, women’s health, and aging — helping people move and perform at their best.
In a typical appointment, I like to see how people move, then work hands-on with their structural limitations toward their goals. I am less of a ‘bone cruncher’ and more of a ‘coaxer,’ as I prefer to work on soft tissue restrictions to restore pain-free movement, followed by reinforcing with appropriate exercise. I appreciate having the tool of adjusting, which is valuable at times, though many patients request and prefer mobilization over high-velocity adjusting. This is always their choice.
I’ve been an athlete throughout my life, playing softball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee competitively, and distance running and triathlons for fun. I’m continuously learning how to maintain my own body, often through my own injuries, so I can keep hiking, gardening, playing pickleball, and spending time with my kids and soon grandkids.
Above all, I try to listen first and treat the whole person, not just whatever brought them in that day. I’ve also spent close to 100 hours in continuing education around anti-racism, size-bias, and LGBTQ+ healthcare, because caring for people well means caring for all of who they are.
I’m in network with Moda, PacificSource, and Regence, and I accept Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury (motor vehicle accident) cases. Please call Hawthorne Chiropractic with any insurance questions.
Benefits of Chiropractic Care for High Performance Athletes
Chiropractic care does more than relieve pain. It can improve the way you move, support recovery between training sessions—and help you perform with greater confidence. Here are some of the benefits.
Improve Movement Efficiency and Joint Mobility
Efficient movement starts with healthy joint function. Restoring mobility or stabilizing a joint can reduce unnecessary compensation and improve the way your body moves during training and competition.
Recover Faster and Improve Performance
Chiropractic care helps address movement restrictions that may interfere with recovery, helping you be better prepared for the demands of training, competition, and everyday activity.
Reduce Recurring Injuries
Recurring injuries often point to an underlying movement issue rather than a single event. Addressing those patterns can reduce unnecessary stress on your body and lower the risk of future setbacks.
