Physical Therapist
Independent Contractor · Portland, OR · Flexible Schedule · Movement Matters
Build your practice with autonomy — backed by a team, systems, and facility designed for athletes.
SportsLab & Athletic Republic are Portland's sports rehab and performance center, offering independent physical therapists the chance to grow a practice inside a tightly integrated, multidisciplinary team. We're looking for a motivated Doctor of Physical Therapy to join us as an independent contractor — someone who wants ownership over how they build and run their caseload in a data-driven, athlete-focused setting.
About Us
Located in NE Portland, SportsLab brings physical therapists, chiropractors, strength coaches, acupuncturists, and massage therapists together under one roof, working alongside Athletic Republic's sports performance programming.
- Private treatment rooms
- Fully equipped training and recovery gym
- VALD ForceDecks, ForceFrame, and SmartSpeed timing gates
- Hawkins Dynamics force plates mounted on leg press
- Tindeq Progressor and Voltra cable machine
- Sprint-capable treadmills (up to 25 mph, 35% incline)
We run on Stride EMR and Timber for billing and insurance management. Athletic Republic trains 100+ youth and adult members in the same space where you'd practice — athletes who train here and want to rehab here too. It's a built-in population for a PT looking to grow a practice quickly.
Our team — Matt Walsh, Jake Stout, Taylor Eckel, Evan Price, and Zach Shaver — are independent contractors themselves, blending evidence-based methods with hands-on clinical experience. Therapists here run a mix of in-network insurance and cash-pay care, supported by facility systems and an admin team.
What the Role Looks Like
- Independent 1:1 patient care — you determine session structure and length
- A caseload you build and manage: insurance, cash-pay, or a mix of both
- Objective, metrics-based assessment and progress tracking
- Cross-disciplinary collaboration with chiropractic, performance, and recovery staff
- Contributing to a results-driven, athlete-centered clinical environment
Autonomy & Earnings
- Set your own schedule and session structure
- Revenue-split model based on your collections — your split increases as your revenue grows
- Credentialing support for new providers
- A built-in referral base through Athletic Republic's active membership
Support
- Facility access to Stride EMR and Timber for scheduling and billing
- Admin support for insurance verification, benefits checks, and collections
- Private treatment space and access to performance-testing equipment
- A collaborative team culture grounded in trust and shared clinical standards
You're a Strong Fit If You
- Have strong clinical reasoning and communication skills, and enjoy problem-solving as part of a team
- Have experience with an athletic population — a team, club, or individual athletes — ideally in the Portland area
- Have a clinical specialty or focus area that sets you apart — the more distinct your niche, the easier it is for us to route referrals directly to you
- Value independence and want interdisciplinary collaboration around you
- Are comfortable with, or interested in learning, tools like force plates, dynamometry, and BFR
- Hold an active Oregon PT license in good standing
- Maintain current BLS & CPR certification
Want to grow toward independent practice without doing it alone? We've built the systems and culture to support that. Whether you're an established clinician or growing into your next phase, we'd love to talk.
